Ear Surgery

The aim of Otoplasty or Pinnaplasty, also known as ear correction surgery is to improve the contour and shape of the ears.

Ear Surgery

Ears that stick out or appear imbalanced in terms of size and shape to the rest of your face can cause you to be self-conscious and make you an easy target for teasing, jokes and nicknames. It is a particularly popular procedure with men as short hair styles mean ears are much more noticeable.

Changing the shape and size of your ears gives you renewed confidence in your looks improving the overall appearance of your face. This surgery can empower you to make different choices in life as a more confident you embraces life.

The Ear Cosmetic Procedure

Ear correction surgery can be performed under either local or general anaesthetic. A small incision is made behind the ear, following the groove between the ear and the side of the head. If the earlobe is especially large, this may also be reduced and corrected.

A small dressing is applied after ear correction surgery and this is kept on until the wound is checked, usually 10 days after surgery.

Will my consultation be with a surgeon?

All consultations take place with a surgeon. We believe that only a surgeon can help and advise you on the best procedure to achieve the results you would like.

During your initial consultation, we will ask you about the results you are looking for and explain the procedure so that you understand every stage of the process. The most important thing is that you feel completely at ease in our care and fully aware of the procedure and the resulting enhancement.

Are your consultations free?

All of our consultations are free with no obligation. You will be provided with advice and information relevant to achieve the results you desire.

What will happen after Ear Correction Surgery?

Your surgeon will see you when you have come round from the anaesthetic to check that all is well, and will discharge you providing you are fit to return home. You will be given medication and full post-operative instructions along with appropriate telephone numbers in case you need to contact us at any time.

Week 1-2

You will see the surgeon after 7-10 days so that he can check your progress and remove your dressing and check your wounds. After this, you can wash your hair normally. Following ear correction surgery, we recommend that a protective headband is worn when sleeping to avoid the ears being bent forward against the pillow.

Weeks 8-10

You will see your surgeon once more at between 8 and 10 weeks after your ear correction surgery for a full post-operative consultation.
