As we age, the skin around our eyes and on the eyebrows loses its laxity somewhat and they can start to droop. As it can make you look and feel older, this can affect your self-confidence and self-esteem. At LINIA Skin Clinic we provide solutions to this in the form of a browpexy with blepharoplasty

If this is something you are currently experiencing, you are not alone. There are, fortunately, solutions to this all too common problem in the form of a Browpexy (and optional Blepharoplasty eyelid treatment)

What is a Browpexy?

A browpexy is a specialist surgical procedure that can help correct moderate or even mild eyebrow drooping as well as helping to improve the upper eyelid laxity.

This will help to give you back a youthful appearance, which will in turn help restore your self-esteem and self-confidence and make you feel more like you again.

What is Involved in the Procedure?

As is the case with every procedure and treatment our specialists carry out here at LINIA Cosmetic, you will need to make a consultation appointment first where you will learn more about the process, what’s involved, what you can do before your surgery and the results.

A browpexy is performed by making an incision into the natural skin crease of the upper eyelid and is normally combined with a Blepharoplasty, which is also known as eyelid surgery.

There are two options generally available for browpexy, depending on the extent of the work you require, your skins condition and whether you need any other forms of facial surgery. You have the choice of an internal or external browpexy, but which is suitable should be discussed with your surgeon at Linia.

Most browpexy can be carried out with a simple local anaesthetic and carried out in our surgery. It may require a general anaesthetic, though if you are booked in for separate facial surgery and work too.

How Long Does the Procedure Take to Complete?

As the case with most surgical procedures it will depend on the extent of work required. However, the process will normally take between 30 and 45 minutes to complete.

What is the Recovery Time for a Browpexy?

It is common to experience some mild discomfort or pain for around 3 to 5 days following your browpexy.

Although there are no strict rules and you are able to return back to your everyday activities and work after just 1 week of rest, you should still avoid taking part in any activity or exercise that is too strenuous for at least 6 weeks. It is particularly important to avoid taking part in any kind of contact sport.

Does a Browpexy Come With any Risks or Side Effects?

All cosmetic surgery and other forms of surgery carry some degree of risk. The same is true with a browpexy. Although real and serious complications are very rare, they could still occur.

By far the most common and likely side effect is bruising, which will normally take around 2 weeks to heal up. Serious bleeding has been known to occur in past cases, but this again is very rare.

Far less common is infections. In the event you do experience any infection as a result of the procedure you will be prescribed an appropriate course of antibiotics.

Other rare effects are keloid or hypertrophic scarring. In the event of there being any evidence of these side effects, you will need a special treatment to reduce any scarring.

If you experience any loss or lowered sensation in or around your forehead, this will normally normalise between 3 to 6 months.

What are the Results You Can Expect?

The specialist surgeons who perform browpexy procedures on our patients are highly trained so you are guaranteed to get results that are as natural looking as possible.

The main goal of this surgery is to help give your upper face a more youthful and attractive appearance. That is true, but it is not at the expense of not fitting in with the rest of your features.

It is important to note that it may take around 3 to 6 months for the full effects of the procedure to really be visible.

That is after your face and the tissue, skin and muscles around it have healed fully.

How Long will the Results of a Browpexy Last?

It can be hard to predict and say how long the results of any surgical procedure like a browpexy will last. Why?

The results can vary from person to person and how much you have aged, the extent of the work you have had done along with the condition and type of skin you have.

Your lifestyle and general health, will obviously also have an impact.

Generally though, the positive results of a browpexy should last for at least 5 years, but possibly even more.

Browpexy Cost

As the browpexy procedure we offer here at LINIA Skin Clinic is customised specifically to the individual, it is hard to say how much it may cost you.

The best advice we would give is to speak to one of our team and arrange for a consultation appointment where the practitioner will be able to give you an accurate quote.

On average though, for having a browpexy performed on both eyes it could cost you at least £2,000.

Obviously, if you choose to have other procedures carried out at the same time, then the cost will increase.

While it’s not always the case, there are some occasions when we offer special deals and money-saving offers on the option to have more than one kind of surgery carried out at the same time.
