Facelift surgery rejuvenates and enhances the face and neck by reversing the changes that have occurred with ageing. Our specialists have carried out over 2,500 facelifts.
Facelift surgery can rejuvenate and enhance both the face and neck by reversing the changes that can naturally occur with ageing. LINIA offer a wide range of facial reshaping and facial rejuvenation procedures that allow patients to feel a renewed sense of confidence and help bring smiles to their faces.
Some important factors that affect the aging process include genetics, exposure to sunshine, smoking and lifestyle choice. As we age, on occasions we lose the of tone in the skin and ligaments of the face resulting in the appearance of jowls, loose neck skin, deepening nose-to-mouth lines and droopiness of eyebrows and eyelids.
In addition, when we age facial skin can develop wrinkles and lines due to damage caused by environmental factors mentioned previously and our skin eventually becomes thinner and more fragile.
Facelifts are usually considered a procedure for someone in their late 40s or 50s or older, but now with a diversity of subtle minimal access lifts available, people as young as 30 are being seen to seek this surgery.
The Facelift Procedure
At LINIA, our facelift surgery is generally performed under local anaesthetic with or without sedation. Whereas in many other clinics it is performed under a general anaesthetic.
Our surgeons who perform facelift surgery at LINIA under local anaesthetic affirm that this allows them to achieve better results as, due to there being no anaesthetic tube, there is minimal distortion, and they can make the face move with ease.
To achieve the perfect lift, we make incisions in the existing skin creases and hair bearing regions surrounding the ear. We then lift the skin as a flap and the loose fat will be re-draped or removed whilst the muscles are tightened and lifted.
Next, excess skin is removed and stitched to create a smoother, more refined contour for both your neck and jawline. We use self-dissolving sutures, that can naturally dissolve and be absorbed by the body as a wound heals. You will find that this gets rid of loose skin, problem lines and wrinkles with the overall effect of giving the face and neck a much softer, refreshed and younger look.
You may also qualify for a less invasive S-facelift surgery, depending on your desired result. Your options can be discussed with your surgeon at your consultation appointment.
What Results to Expect After Facelift Surgery?
In most cases, it usually takes anything from 2 to 3 months for your face to really feel different. However, the swelling and bruising will go down within 10 to 14 days and you will begin to feel more presentable in yourself.
After these 10 to 14 days, you will start to see the positive, flattering results. You will have a more rested and youthful appearance, and your skin will look tighter, rather than sagging as it may have previously.
Following the initial recovery period, our patients overall report feeling much more confident and rejuvenated in their appearance!
Average Cost of Facelift Surgery
When it comes to the cost of facelift surgery, it will depend on the extent of the work required. Every facelift is different, so there is no set price. For instance, a mini facelift could cost just a couple of thousand pounds.
While a more extensive face and neck lift procedure could cost as much as £10,000, and maybe more depending on what is required by the patient.
At LINIA, you will be advised about the cost of your treatment during your initial consultation appointment as you begin your journey with us.
Please note that follow-up appointments and any other surgery or treatment you require following your facelift may cost more.
What are the Risks and Side Effects of Facelift Surgery?
At LINIA we will take every measure and precaution in order to limit any side effects and risks of facelift surgery.
However, as is the case with all cosmetic surgery procedures, there is always the unfortunate chance of something going wrong. Some of the most common side effects of facelift surgery include:
- Raised sideburn or hairline
- Scars that will fade in time, but may not disappear completely
- Temporary bruising around the cheeks that will move downwards towards your neck in time
- Numb, puffy and stiff face, for anything from a week to a few weeks following surgery
On rare occasions, more serious complications may occur – though most of these are treatable – including the following:
- Obvious and thick scars
- Either a slight reduction in hair growth or complete hair loss around your scars
- Asymmetrical facial features, such as earlobe positions
- Loss of movement or sensation in your face or some other kind of nerve injury
- Haematoma, or blood collecting beneath the skin
There are also the risks that come with any invasive surgery, such as:
- Anaesthetic causing an allergic reaction
- Blood clots in your veins close to where the procedure has been performed
- Excessive amounts of bleeding
We want to reiterate that, these side effects and risks are very rare, but we like to make all patients aware of them so they may make an informed decision. The chance of these side effects is greatly reduced when surgery is performed by highly qualified and experienced practitioners like we have here at the LINIA Clinics.
What is the Recovery Time for a Facelift?
The average recovery time required for a facelift is between 2 and 4 weeks. You will need to take time off work.
You should expect visible bruising for around 2 weeks following your procedure, and it could take anything from 6 to 9 months to fully see the result of your facelift.
It is important to avoid driving following your surgery; your surgeon will give you a recommendation regarding this time period.
You will also need to avoid getting your bandages wet and showering for at least 2 days after your surgery and avoid any massages, saunas and rigorous activity for the first 2 weeks of recovery.
It is also recommended that you make sure you use pillows to prop up your head while you rest for a few days following the procedure to help reduce the swelling and help the healing process.

Will my consultation be with a surgeon?
All consultations pre surgery take place with a specialised surgeon who has years of experience and training. We believe that only a surgeon can help and advise you on the best procedure to achieve the results you would desire.
During your initial consultation, an expert surgeon at LINIA will discuss the results you are looking for and explain the procedure so that you understand every stage of the process as well as the aftercare. The most important outcome from the consultation is that you feel completely at ease in our care, and you are fully aware of the procedure and the resulting enhancement.
Are your consultations free?
All our consultations are free with no obligation. You will be provided with specialist advice and information relevant to achieve the perfect outcome from your surgery.
What will happen after the Facelift operation?
Following your facelift surgery, your surgeon will see you when you have recovered to check that all is well. You’ll be given medication and post-operative instructions and will wear a small bandage over the incision site for the next 1-2 days. You will also be given appropriate telephone numbers in case you need to contact us at any time.
Most of our facelift patients resume normal activities within 7 days. Yet this does depend on the individual. You will also receive a check-up 7-10 days after your surgery. Most of our surgeons use dissolving stitches. The puffiness and bruising usually clears up in 2 weeks and normal make-up may then be applied.
Your surgeon will see you again, usually 8-10 weeks after the facelift surgery for a full post-operative consultation.
